"Scary Stories" Achieves PG-13 Rating
André Øvredal and Guillermo del Toro's heavily anticipated Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has achieved a PG-13 rating. Fans of del Toro may be confused by this, as he, who is the screenwriter and producer of the film, is known for adult themes wrapped in surrealism and healthy doses of unflinching terror and violence. However, it is important to remember that Scary Stories is first and foremost a children's book. With this rating, not only can millennials and older members of generation Z get a blast of nostalgia, but members of the books' target age range (children) can experience the series in a whole new way. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be released in theaters August 9th.
