Fox Searchlight and Wes Anderson Team Up for Upcoming "The French Dispatch"
Written by Sophia Anderson
Fox Searchlight Pictures recently bought the rights to Wes Anderson’s upcoming film, The French Dispatch. The highly anticipated film is set to star Timothée Chalamet, Benicio Del Toro, Léa Seydoux and Jeffrey Wright, as well as some Anderson-film-returnees including Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan, and Tilda Swinton. Filming is taking place in France, as the story is set in a fictional French city.
Like many members of The French Dispatch’s cast, Fox Searchlight pictures has worked with Anderson before, releasing his last two films, Isle of Dogs and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Fox Searchlight’s chairmen have expressed their great enthusiasm in continuing their partnership with Anderson. Initially, this new film was rumored to be a musical, but reportedly is no longer going in that direction. Anderson describes it as a movie about reporters, and it is anticipated to be a sort of ode to them and their way of life.
The film is currently set for a 2020 release.
