our story

Welcome to Film Becomes Her! Here you’ll find essays, reviews, and news pertaining to the diverse world of cinema. Film Becomes Her was founded in the summer of 2019 by Samantha Wolfe and Caelan Doyle, Certified Film Lovers™, who dreamed of a place we could throw our obsessive thoughts on the films we love in a place we could call our own. Film Becomes Her aims to approach our work in a way that sets us apart from other publications, casting a light on the importance of diversity and inclusivity in cinema.

Meet the Team

Samantha Wolfe, Editor-in-Chief

Samantha is from Denver, Colorado, where she lives now. Her favorite movies are any horror flicks featuring a woman going batshit, campy classics from the late 60’s and early 70’s, and Legally Blonde. She goes crazy for basically every actress, including but not limited to Meryl Streep, Tessa Thompson, and Bette Davis. She is currently getting her bachelor’s in English, and hopes to later major in Film Studies. She dreams of someday becoming a screenwriter, or more realistically, a film journalist.

Caelan Doyle, Vice Editor

Caelan is born and raised in Denver, where he is currently getting his bachelor’s in history. He has loved movies for as long as he can remember, especially slashers from the 70’s and 80’s. His favorites outside of that genre are Scream, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and John Wick. (He, as is the case with most of us, is in love with Keanu Reeves.) In his free time you can usually catch him watching Z-Grade horror films.

Staff Writers

Sophia Anderson

Sophia is an ardent film lover based in Bellingham, WA. Some of her favorite films include Pride & Prejudice, Moonstruck, and The Graduate. She is currently studying Studio Art and French at Western Washington University. She is eagerly awaiting the release Wes Anderson’s next movie (as usual).

Joseph Martin

Joseph G. Martin is a 20 year old writer from the upper Midwest. He enjoys a wide range of movies, but has a special soft spot for musicals and found footage horror. For his more unintelligible ramblings, you can find Joseph on twitter or tumblr.

Sarah W.

Sarah is from Rhode Island, and is currently working as a sailing coach while finishing school. Her favorite films include Mulholland Drive, anything starring Irène Jacob, and the Paddington franchise, and writes a lot about representation in film. She hopes to direct her own movies, and is starting to work on a documentary that will hopefully see the light of day soon.
